February 22nd - I'm making lamps

Back in November I quit my job and ended up spending a couple months at home with family over the holidays. My granddad passed. That sucks. But, it was so good to be back with my family. It’s a shame that sometimes it takes being separated again to realize that. 

For the last month I’ve been designing and prototyping a lamp. It’s been great. Fashion can be cool but it’s such a fantasy world. I don’t want to serve consumerism and I don’t want to add to the noise. I want to give time and attention to building a really nice product that can serve an honest need in your home.  

At Dark Forest things will be built, not just “dropped”. It’s a marathon yall. It’s not going to always be perfect but it’s okay cuz we will iterate. Im creating things that serve people. Products that don’t live rent free. Products of practical and poetic value. This is the heart and soul of my brand. It’s just me that I have to support so I don’t have to worry about quotas or what will sell the best all that much or how I’m going to be able to pay a lot of people or anything. There’s a lot of freedom in that. At the time, not much money—but i can afford that. 

George Muller was this guy that ran an orphanage that against all odds was constantly provided for. In addition to glorifying God, his purpose was centered on the spiritual and bodily welfare of all people. 

This is something worth my time and skill set so I’ll be following this idea. 

Dark Forest is a platform that will be a ready and willing vehicle to grow and strengthen communities in those two areas, Spirit and Body. Encouraging Faithfulness through choices. Providing honest solutions for shelter, clothing, and nutrition. 

We are all in this together. Seriously. I personally know probably 95% of you guys. Hmu with any ideas or suggestions you have.
